FULBRIGHT-TEACHERS FOR GLOBAL CLASSROOMS connects TGC alumni/teacher-consultants across the United States providing units of study and lesson plans for integrating global perspectives with all content area. The lesson plans below link middle school math teachers with content area teachers who have traveled, taught, and successfully incorporated these lessons into their curriculum. All lesson plans are formatted per UbD model.
GLOBALIZED UNIT ON EXPONENTIAL FUNCTIONS (by Melissa Nadeau - 2014 Alumni)-The following unit plan incorporates global education competencies for an Algebra I Mathematics classroom. Students extend their knowledge on population growth (see TEACH - Unit Plans - Linear) and it's negative correlation with food production. Students also begin looking at data on climate change. GLOBALIZED UNIT ON LINEAR FUNCTIONS (by Melissa Nadeau-2014 Alumni)-The following unit plan incorporates global education competencies for an Algebra I Mathematics classroom. Students explore the ideas of population growth and the impact of plastic water bottle waste on the environment.
GLOBAL DATA INFOGRAPHICS (by Stephanie McBride-2015 Alumni)-The following links are examples of global education lesson plans. I developed a math based lesson plan that asks students to research a global topic from the the perspective of a mathematician and create an info graphic to relate the important information. This lesson integrates perspective taking with many middle school math standards. Lessons from my classmates are also included and represent a variety of grades and subjects.
